'Winterfest at Erlowest' a scenic winter fundraiser

The Inn at Erlowest, overlooking Lake George
Lake George, which Thomas Jefferson called "the most beautiful lake in these young United States," is gorgeous when the surrounding foliage is in full blossom, but winter ain't bad either.

You can take advantage of the wintry views from a historic vantage point during "Winterfest At Erlowest," an event scheduled for 3 to 9 p.m. on five consecutive Saturdays -- January 21 and 28, and February 4, 11 and 18, at the Inn at Erlowest.

The events, with admission priced at $40, will allow guests to take in the lake and mountain views from the onetime private mansion's fireplaced patio, courtyard and ballroom terrace. Bars will be open outside with fire tables to ward off the chill. A light-fare menu and the Erlowest ala carte menu will be  offered for anything from snacking to a full meal.

Other businesses that are open in the Lake George area on a year-round day basis will be on hand to show and sample their products. Beers, wines, and spirits from local manufacturers as well as foods from local restaurants will be available for sampling in the ballroom.

Admission covers two-drink coupons to the patio and terrace bar, admission to the ballroom, and a contribution to the Women in Need charity.

The Inn at Erlowest is located at 3178 Lake Shore Drive, just above Lake George Village. Phone: 668-5928.
